Jonathan Tobin: Surge in Palestinian terror is a preview of a two-state ‘solution’
Part of this prejudice against Israel and Jewish rights is rooted in antisemitism. But the point here is that rather than enabling an end to the violence, every Israeli withdrawal or concession—whether the Oslo Accords that led to Jenin being a terror stronghold in 2002 as well as today or the 2005 retreat from Gaza—hasn’t encouraged peace or coexistence. It has merely motivated the Palestinians to hold onto to their fantasies about reversing the history of the region and to believe that they still have a chance to eventually succeed in wearing down Israel.

For all of the mistakes he has made in his first 30 months in office, President Joe Biden hasn’t repeated the same one made by all of his recent predecessors by offering his own Middle East peace plan to make a two-state solution happen. Still, the administration’s retreat from its predecessors’ policies aimed at making Palestinians realize that they have lost their war and must accept reality has contributed to the Arab intransigence that makes the current upsurge in violence inevitable.

In particular, Washington’s recent decision to cease scientific and technological cooperation with Israeli institutions in Judea and Samaria like Ariel University does more to fuel violence than building homes for Jews in the region. This embrace of a BDS-style boycott sends a signal to the groups it labels as terrorists and their supporters that they must continue fighting rather than giving up.

Above all, those who deplore both Israeli and Palestinian actions as equally wrong are ignoring the plain evidence that rather the end the conflict, making Jenin a place where Israeli forces would be as unable to enter in the future as Gaza would simply replicate the same situation as currently exists in the Strip. Rather than gaining support because of Abbas’s failure to create a state, Hamas and PIJ are on the rise because they promise to keep fighting Israel until it is destroyed. Two states do not correlate into peace. It would simply make Israel’s already difficult security dilemma even more dangerous.

This isn’t something most people want to hear. The implacable nature of the Palestinian refusal to accept Israel is rooted in religious and cultural ideas that are alien to most Americans. And accepting that there is no answer to this terrible problem in sight is something that also runs counter to Jewish millenarian and utopian ideals that envision the arc of history always bending towards progress, justice and peace. Confronting a future in which Israel will always have to be on guard against forces seeking to destroy it and in which American Jews are obligated to support their efforts is a similarly unattractive vision.

Backing terrorism and the commitment to keep rejecting Israel among Palestinians that has been on display in the territories is a reminder that the international and American determination to double down on working for two states is actually contributing to the problem, not helping solve it. Perhaps sometime in the distant future, it might be possible to imagine a situation where Palestinians have undergone a sea change in their political culture, and two states won’t be a prescription for more violence. Until then, it’s a pipe dream that does far more harm than good.
Jenin Operation Achieved Most of its Goals, but the IDF Will Be Back
A day after the Israel Defense Forces completed its extensive security operation, it appears the goal of squashing Jenin's image as a terrorist safe haven has been accomplished, with some caveats.

The IDF, backed by Shin Bet intelligence and Border Police officers, seized more than a thousand pieces of armament in Jenin camp and surrounding areas, including bombs, ammunition, and guns.

Fourteen command posts and hideouts used to coordinate terrorist activity were demolished, and six bomb-making facilities were dismantled, where security forces found over 300 bombs, bomb-making chemicals, and other weapons. Hundreds of thousands of shekels in terror funds were confiscated, and six underground shafts and two weapon pits were also found, including in a mosque.

The army killed 12 Palestinian combatants and expected to engage many more, but Jenin's terrorists lost their motivation when they saw the IDF's elite forces, backed by selective drone air power, approach them from multiple directions, and fled.
The U.S. Failure behind Israel's Jenin Raid
America's close ally, Israel, launched the largest military excursion in the West Bank in nearly two decades. And a decades-long, bipartisan United States policy failure is partially to blame.

The operation in Jenin really highlights the failure of the Palestinian Authority, the U.S.-backed entity that was created as part of the 1990s Oslo Peace Process. The PA is tasked with preventing terrorism, and its security forces are trained and armed by the United States, among others, to do just that. Instead of preventing terrorism, however, the PA pays tax-deductible salaries to those who carry out terrorist attacks. The PA has also incentivized terrorism in other ways.

PA Chairman Abbas' iron fist masks a brittle hand. The authority's control of key towns has been slipping. Iranian-backed rivals of Fatah, like Hamas and PIJ, have seen growing support in the West Bank. Iran covets the West Bank, hoping to turn it into another front to launch attacks into Israel.

The U.S. has failed to stave off the PA's growing unpopularity and weakness, declining to pressure the authority to uphold the rule of law. Fixated on a "two-state solution" that Palestinian leaders like Abbas have repeatedly rejected, U.S. policymakers have infantilized Fatah's leadership, failing to push for healthy institutions and a stop to the authority's policy of rewarding terrorism.


IDF learns from bitter experience on how to defeat Jenin ‘TikTok warriors’
One of the first things I noticed as the small armoured convoy sped from the Salem Crossing into Jenin was the Palestinian cars and lorries on the road.

It was hard to miss them, even from the small bullet-proof window of the “Tigris” tactical truck.

The officer sitting next to me confirmed it: the IDF had just launched its largest ground operation in the West Bank since 2002 and there was no curfew on the city. Not even roadblocks. At least not Israeli ones.

This was not like any urban-warfare battle I had ever reported on.

Sitting up front was Brigadier-General Avi Bluth, commanding officer of the Judea and Samaria Division and overall commander of the Jenin operation, monitoring on the screen of his Tsayad tactical system the location of his sub-units.

Like other IDF generals, he fought, 21 years ago, in Operation Defensive Shield, in Jenin and the other West Bank cities.

When they began planning this operation, more than a year ago, they were determined that this time around things would be different.

They didn’t want a repeat of the previous Battle of Jenin, in which 53 Palestinians and 23 IDF soldiers, most of them caught in booby-trapped buildings, were killed.

It took nearly three weeks for them to end the occupation of Jenin, and when they left, more than 10 per cent of the buildings in the old refugee camp quarter had been destroyed.

As reliable information came out only in a slow trickle, the media was filled first with speculation and then wild headlines of a “massacre” in Jenin.

This time it was to be completely different. The battle was fought in the same alleyways and against a similar-sized force of about 300 Palestinian militants, but it was over in 48 hours. It would have ended even earlier, if it was up to the generals, but the order from Benjamin Netanyahu’s government was to stay until the second night.

Unlike the first Battle of Jenin, where most of the Israeli forces were infantry reservists, this time around a special-forces brigade was deployed, equipped with accurate intelligence of the Palestinian hideaways and weapons stores, and with constant cover from armed drones above.

Instead of lumbering tanks and armoured personnel carriers, they entered in smaller, more manoeuvrable, bullet- and blast-proof tactical vehicles, and spent only brief moments inside buildings.
Abraham Accord Arab States Seen Sticking with Israel despite Jenin Raid
Public fury is growing in the Arab world over one of Israel's biggest military operations in the occupied West Bank in years, yet Arab states which normalized ties with Israel are unlikely to turn their condemnation of the Israeli assault into action. The military operation is diplomatically awkward for the four Arab states that have signed peace pacts - known as the Abraham Accords - with Israel, and it makes the already distant prospect of including Saudi Arabia in the U.S.-backed push for normalized ties even more remote. But analysts said economic and trade interests were likely to trump any moral outrage felt in the Abraham Accord states - Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Sudan and Morocco. Palestinian officials say they feel betrayed by their Arab brethren for reaching deals with Israel without first demanding progress toward the creation of a Palestinian state.
Israel's Raid Left the Jenin Camp in Ruins. Palestinians Blame their Leaders
Israel on Wednesday ended a two-day operation in the Jenin refugee camp that left 12 Palestinians and one Israeli soldier dead, forced thousands from their homes, and sparked new tensions between locals and the Palestinian Authority meant to be governing them.

Residents threw rocks at the security headquarters of the Palestinian Authority in the city, furious that its security forces had allowed Israeli troops to operate freely in the camp. Palestinian security personnel fired tear gas at the protesters.

Anger at the Palestinian Authority is soaring in Jenin. Many scoffed at Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' declaration that he will cut all security coordination with Israel in response to the raid. They pointed to the scars throughout the camp left by the two-day operation: churned asphalt and mangled cars, windows, and doors smashed in by military bulldozers. Bullet casings and burned tires littered the streets; water and power supplies were cut.

Israel has claimed that all 12 of the Palestinian men killed were combatants. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant pointed to the lack of civilian casualties as one of the mission's successes.

Exclusive: Joe Lieberman Slams Biden for Not Inviting Israeli PM to White House and for ‘Strengthening’ Iran
Former U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman slammed the Biden administration for its having yet to invite the Israeli premier to the White House while accusing it of “strengthening” the otherwise “weak” Iranian regime. Lieberman demanded an immediate invitation for Netanyahu and called to make the Islamic Republic of Iran “more afraid” of the U.S.

In an exclusive statement to Breitbart News, the one-time vice-presidential nominee spoke out against the White House’s “mistake” in that the prime minister of Israel — elected in November — has yet to be invited to the White House.

“Honestly, most of the world doesn’t know that the prime minister of Israel has not been invited to the White House [but] I think it’s a mistake,” he stated.

“[Though] it’s true some of the enemies of the U.S. and [President Joe] Biden may focus on it, and the enemies of Israel may focus on it, but it’s a mistake,” he reiterated.

The long-time U.S. senator from Connecticut who had visited Israel and its prime minister the previous week, explained that, despite any differences, the leader of the Jewish State deserves a presidential invitation to the White House “as soon as possible.”

“So far, President Biden and Prime Minister Netanyahu have tried hard not to get into a public fight, but really the prime minister was duly elected by the people of Israel; he formed a coalition,” he stated. “President Biden and a lot of Americans may not like that coalition, but it resulted from a democratic process in a country that has been one of America’s closest allies in the world — Israel.”

“The prime minister of Israel should be invited to the White House by the President of the United States as soon as possible,” he added emphatically.

On the Biden administration’s persistence in pursuing a nuclear deal with Iran, Lieberman expressed his inability to comprehend “what rationally would lead anybody to think they could make a deal or an understanding — whatever they’re going to call it — with the Islamic Republic of Iran that we could rely on.”

He slammed the notion of “another deal that would give the Iranian government billions of dollars that they will use to suppress their own people and enable their proxy terrorists to kill a lot of other people,” while warning of additional consequences and harms caused by such moves.

IDF strikes Lebanon after anti-tank missile hits near Ghajar border town
The IDF struck sites in Lebanon after an anti-tank missile was fired from Lebanon toward the village of Ghajar, which is split by the Blue Line with half in Israel and half in Lebanon, on Thursday, amid heightened tensions along the northern border in recent weeks.

An additional explosion was reported by Lebanese sources near the Bastra farm in the Shebaa Farms area north of the Golan Heights, although the nature of that explosion is as of yet unclear. No party has claimed responsibility for the rocket fire.

The IDF is still unsure whether Hezbollah fired the missile or a Palestinian group or some other actor and is investigating the issue.

The Lebanese L'Orient-Le Jour newspaper cited a "high-ranking source within the Lebanese Army" as saying that a Palestinian group was behind the missile fire, adding that the Lebanese Army deployed in the area to prevent further fire.

In response to the missile fire, the IDF launched artillery strikes on sites near the towns of Kfarchouba and Halta. Over 15 shells were fired by the IDF toward southern Lebanon, according to Lebanon's National News Agency.

IDF sources said that initially they believed the explosions that were reported around the Lebanon border had occurred on the Lebanese side of the border.

"Jenin Terrorists Developing Explosive Suicide Drones"
Palestinian Authority terrorists in Jenin have begun to develop explosive suicide drones with which to attack Israeli military forces and other Jews.

Israel Defense Forces discovered one such drone during its counter terrorism Operation Bayit V’Gan (Home and Garden) this week in Jenin.

The drone that was found was a simple model which can be found online, according to Galei Tzahal Army Radio journalist Doron Kadosh, but it is likely terrorists are experimenting with ways to attach explosives to the device.

The Iranian-backed Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist organization based in Gaza has installed numerous satellite branches of the group throughout the Palestinian Authority.

Iran has already provided its proxy in Lebanon, Hezbollah, with combat drone technology, as it has done for Russia, which uses Iranian kamikaze drones in its war against Ukraine.

It is possible Iran is now also providing Islamic Jihad in Judea and Samaria with the technology as well.
Israeli killed in terrorist attack near Kedumim
An Israeli man was killed on Thursday by a Palestinian who tried to infiltrate the town of Kedumim, located some six miles west of Nablus (Shechem) in Samaria.

Magen David Adom emergency medical personnel treated the victim at the scene before pronouncing him dead.

Initial reports said that the victim was a member of the security forces.

The shooting attack took place between the Git Junction and Mitzpe Yishai. The latter is an “outpost” of Kedumim located to the south of the main town. The terrorist, who used a “Carlo”-type submachine gun, was shot dead near Git.

In a statement claiming responsibility, Hamas’ Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades confirmed that its operative Ahmed Yassin Ghaidan, from the village of Qibya near Ramallah, carried out the attack.

Israeli authorities believe the terrorist acted alone and the IDF Home Front Command’s order for residents to remain in their homes has been lifted.

The IDF spokesperson said, “Following the report of the shooting attack near Kedumim, the security forces identified a suspicious vehicle for inspection. During the inspection, a terrorist who was in the vehicle opened fire at them. The forces responded by shooting back but the terrorist escaped.

“IDF soldiers and civilian security personnel began a pursuit of the terrorist, charged, and neutralized him.”


Court acquits border policeman in shooting of autistic Palestinian
The Jerusalem District Court acquitted a Border Police officer on Thursday in a case stemming from the 2020 killing of an autistic Palestinian.

The officer, whose name remains under a gag order, shot and killed Iyad Halak in the capital’s Old City after mistaking the latter’s phone for a weapon, and after orders for Halak to halt went unheeded.

The court ruled that the officer had “acted out of self-defense and concern for his life and the lives of others.”

Border Police Commander Amir Cohen hailed the ruling and emphasized that the officer had received support “throughout the entire journey.”

Cohen added that the officer would be reinstated and allowed to participate in an upcoming commander’s course.

Israel Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai said, “We commanders sent the police officer on a mission and we bear the responsibility to stand by his side.

“I believe the court was correct in its ruling,” he added.

Halak, 32, was shot while on his way to the special-education institute that he attended daily in Jerusalem.

Israel Police officers stationed at the Lions’ Gate in the Old City—the site of many Palestinian stabbings and other attacks—told investigators that Halak’s behavior had appeared suspicious.
The Israel Guys: Did They ACTUALLY Stop A Rocket Launch?
In a series of recent terror attacks, a Palestinian Arab terrorist rammed his car into pedestrians in Tel Aviv and then began stabbing people on the sidewalk. The attacker was neutralized by a civilian on site, and five injured people were evacuated to the hospital. The day before, a 16-year-old Palestinian stabbed a Haredi Jewish man in Bnei Brak, before being arrested.

Thousands of protesters attempted to block access to the Tel Aviv airport, but the police intervened and made dozens of arrests, shutting down the protest.

On a surprising note, Hamas reportedly stopped a rocket from being fired at Israel, after sending forces to prevent disturbances along the border.




Independent accuses Israel of unremitting inhumanity
Israel is “stubborn”, “vengeful”, and engages in “unremitting inhumanity”, according to an editorial at the Independent – but evidently written on behalf of the entire world (“The world expects better of Israel than constant recourse to violence“, July 4).

The piece is illustrated by one of the most morally obtuse and intellectually dishonest political cartoons related to the conflict that we’ve come across. It compares Russia’s unprovoked war against Ukraine, in which over 9,000 civilians have been killed, to the IDF’s two-day military operation in Jenin to erode the capacity of proscribed terrorist groups to launch attacks on Israeli civilians.

The Indy editorial begins with an egregious mischaracterisation of the military operation and a cliche:
If brutal military operations by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) in Palestinian settlements [sic] were sufficient to end the conflict in the region, then the Middle East would have been at peace for decades. Plainly, it has not been – and equally obviously, violence is begetting violence, as it always has.

Far from “brutal”, in two days of fighting in the densely packed terror 12 Palestinians were killed – at least 10 of whom, and maybe all, were identified as either terrorists or males involved in violent clashes.

Further, the “violence only begets violence” cliche, in the context of Jenin, would suggest that there was a non-military solution to destroy bomb-making factories, seize weapons and arrest terrorists affiliated with groups, backed and armed by Iran, proscribed by the UK and much of the West – a peaceful alternative that Israeli leaders, in their thirst for violence, refused to consider.

The editorial later acknowledges “There have been many deadly attacks by Palestinian groups on Israeli settlers”, while omitting the fact that not all of the deadly attacks targeted Israelis living across the Green Line. It also notes that “some [in Jenin] deny Israel’s right to exist in peace”.

However, it then goes on to impute the worst possible motives for the Israeli operation:
In essence, the IDF operation in Jenin was a punitive, retributive exercise, and one that is sure to escalate tensions. The town of Jenin hosts a refugee camp that dates back to 1948, and is thus both a symbol and a cause of grievance. It was a centre for violence in the second intifada, which ended in 2002 [sic].

First, the town of Jenin “hosts” a community that’s administered by UNRWA, the UN body which bestows “refugee” status to Palestinians, all but a tiny number of whom aren’t actual refugees from 1948, and, contrary to all other refugees, is a status passed along to every subsequent generation of Palestinians – premised on the grievance-inspiring fiction that they will all one day ‘return’ to Israel.

In fact, a good question, considering UNRWA’s role in Jenin, is how the organisation allowed it to become a nest of terrorism. In addition to its role as the incubator of the current terror campaign against Israeli civilians, a staggering 45% of the camp’s residents are believed to be affiliated with terror groups.
Jewish leaders condemn 'appalling' Jenin cartoon in Independent newspaper


Jewish leaders have condemned a cartoon published by The Independent that appears to compare Palestinian militants to Ukrainians fighting the Russian army as “appalling”.

The drawing, published on Wednesday, showed a Palestinian lying on the group below fighter planes with rubble-strewn devastation around him.

On a bullet-hole-ridden sign above him reading “Jenin”, he had used his own blood to write “Ukraine”.

"Can you see me now?" the wounded man is shown as asking.

Reacting furiously, a spokesman for the Jewish Leadership Council said: “It is a clear attempt to deny Israel’s right to defend itself by casting a false equivalence between Ukrainians and armed Palestinian terrorists.”

They added: “This is an appalling cartoon.”

A National Jewish Association (NJA) spokesman said the organisation was “outraged” by the image as it appeared to compare Palestinian terrorists in Jenin to Ukrainians fighting Putin’s invasion.

NJA Chairman Gary Mond told the JC: “Ukrainians are fighting because their territory has been invaded. They do not seek to destroy Russia and kill all Russians.

“Palestinians are fighting to destroy the Jewish state and kill or expel the Jewish population. That is their clearly stated goal.

“That the Independent should publish such a cartoon that appears to draw an equivalence between Palestinian terrorists and Ukrainians is an insult to Ukraine and its people."

Yesterday, Palestinian Media Watch tweeted the above video that shows BBC host Anjana Gadgil stating that “the Israeli forces are happy to kill children” during an interview with former Israel PM Bennett. Gadgil also said 4 Palestinian teenagers who were killed in Jenin were “children,” citing the UN for this definition. However, PMW exposed that at least 3 of the 4 “children” were terrorists, belonging to 3 different terror organizations: The Islamic Jihad, Hamas, and Fatah’s terror wing, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades. Various terrorist websites posted photos of them posing with automatic rifles. These are the UN and BBC’s “children”:

In addition to PMW’s tweet critical of the BBC and the UN, many organizations sent formal complaints over the BBC broadcaster’s accusation that Israeli forces “are happy to kill children.” BBC issued a shameful so-called “apology,” justifying the faulty line of questioning and merely “apologizing” for the “language used”: "While this was a legitimate subject to examine in the interview, we apologize that the language used in this line of questioning was not phrased well and was inappropriate."

Neither the BBC nor the UN have apologized or admitted that they are creating cover for armed terrorists, and for playing a central role in the PA’s war propaganda, by calling them “children” and blaming Israel for their deaths.

While the death of a child is always tragic, the guilty ones who must be held accountable by the UN and all decent media, are the child abusing leaders of the Palestinian Authority, for indoctrinating children to fight and seek Martyrdom death.

Demonstrators at London anti-Israel rally call for another intifada and recite antisemitic “From the river to the sea” chant
Last night, an anti-Israel protest outside the Embassy of Israel in London attended by hundreds featured calls for another intifada and the antisemitic “From the river to the sea” chant

Volunteers from Campaign Against Antisemitism’s Demonstration and Event Monitoring Unit were present at the protest to gather evidence.

The chant of “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” was heard throughout the rally.

“From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” only makes sense as a call for the destruction of the world’s only Jewish state — and its replacement with a State of Palestine — and is thus an attempt to deny Jews, uniquely, the right to self-determination, which is a breach of the International Definition of Antisemitism.

According to the Definition, “Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination (e.g. by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavour)” is an example of antisemitism.

Calls for another “intifada” were also heard, with the claim that there is “only one solution”. The “intifada” is widely understood as the campaign of Arab terrorist violence against Jewish Israeli targets in the early 2000s that claimed hundreds of civilian lives and brought an end to the peace process.

Incendiary signs were also present, including ones denouncing Zionism as “terrorism” and claims that Israel is a “terrorist state”.

The event featured a variety of speakers, including antisemitic former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) Director Ben Jamal, and National Education Union President Louise Atkinson.

Mia Khalifa sparks backlash after saying IDF is 'taught to aim at children'
A social media personality and former adult actress has come under fire for incendiary remarks about the IDF's operation in the West Bank.

Mia Khalifa, a Lebanese American influencer, posted a video to Tiktok in which she claimed that IDF soldiers were "taught to aim at children" and that Israeli forces do not respect laws around rules of engagement and have a "disgusting mindset" towards Palestinians.

In the one-minute clip, the 30-year-old who was born in Beirut, said that many Palestinians live in multi-generational homes that may contain terrorists and that Israeli forces deliberately "devalue" the lives of all occupants regardless of whether they belong to terror groups.

After posting the clip online, Khalifa was immediately criticised by both Muslims and Jews.

A General Assembly resolution spearheaded by several Arab states, with the support of the observer-status State of Palestine, deemed the systematic, industrialized slaughter of Jews in Europe during the Second World War an acceptable response by the peoples of Europe to the threat of Jews living among them and possibly even thriving. The measure represents a diplomatic achievement for the Palestinians, who have long sought to characterize their efforts to eliminate the Jews as a legitimate movement.

By a vote of 100-34, with eight abstentions, the pro-Palestine bloc carried General Assembly Resolution 8888, approving language that declared Hitler’s Final Solution to the Jewish Question, which resulted in the mass murder of nearly six million Jews during the1930’s and 40’s, “legitimate German resistance to Jewish occupation.”

Delegates from the State of Palestine hailed the resolution’s passage as a victory for historic justice. “It is but a short leap from here to our liberation,” Ambassador Riyad Mansour declared. “Now that we have convinced the world that the Holocaust, which we also say never happened, was justified, we can more easily describe our own campaign to destroy the Zionist Entity from the River to the Sea in the same terms. Not that it stopped us before, and you won’t see much of a difference in what we do from before the resolution, but it’s a milestone.”

The nations voting in support of the resolution included almost all the Arab countries, several dozen African nations, all of South America, Central America, half of Europe, and most of Asia. A handful of other democracies, plus a smattering of longtime Israel allies, voted against, with the US under the Biden administration numbering among the abstainers.
